Polyketone-based masterbatches
Processing together what belongs together
Due to the outstanding characteristic properties of polyketone (PK), such as high load-bearing capacity, reduced moisture absorption, good tribological properties, shorter cycle times and, finally, higher environmental compatibility compared to polymer types such as polyamide (PA), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) or polyoxymethylene (POM), polyketone has been experiencing a renaissance for some time now.
In order not to influence these properties by adding a different type of polymer. We have taken this as an opportunity to develop a masterbatch series for polyketone based on polyketone. You can find a selection of our already developed "ready to use" colours in the table below.

AF-Clean® NB 930007 natur Polyketon
AF-Clean® NB 930007 natur Polyketon is optimised for use after processing polyketone. This variant is particularly suitable for cleaning hot runners and valve gate nozzles. The combination of active ingredients efficiently removes polymer residues and colour residues as well as cross-linked components that can occur during the processing of polyketone. The chemically active cleaning component ensures effective cleaning without damaging the machine components. After the cleaning process, the granulate can be quickly removed from the processing machine by the downstream polymer. Longer dwell times in the machine are also possible without any problems.
Shown on the right is a cleaning result based on documentation of the screw coating after processing with Polyketon and cleaning with our AF-Clean® Polyketon.
Our cleaning granulate for polyketone is also available as an unreinforced and reinforced version with glass fibre.

Processing stabilisers for polyolefins (PE/PP) during the recycling process
Processing stabilisers in the form of masterbatches keep the damaging influence of a recycling process on the polymers within limits.
AF-Complex® PP 990225 WS natural prevents the MVR increase in polypropylene (PP) in the recycling process and AF-Complex® PE 990220 AO natural limits cross-linking and gel formation in polyethylene (PE).

Processing aid for PMMA
Newly developed additives enable improved flow behaviour when processing certain polymer groups with a significantly reduced temperature profile. Nevertheless, the melt viscosity corresponds to the required process window.
An innovative molecular design provides the necessary functionalities and represents an absolute novelty in the field of process aids. The NB 990850 PA natur (PA = processing aid) developed for this purpose is designed as an additive concentrate explicitly for use in PMMA (e.g. the widely known Plexiglas®).

Highly colourful laser marking
Our laser additives are not only impressive in terms of colour, but also technically.
Laser markings are being used more and more frequently in industrial applications, as they are considered to be particularly reliable due to their high contrast and excellent contour sharpness. They are ideal for permanent marking as they are waterproof, abrasion and heat resistant, lightfast and also tamper-proof. In selected applications, the use of laser-sensitive additives in plastics is a clear advantage.

Technically sophisticated carbon black concentrate for polyamides
The challenge when colouring polyamides, especially with black colouring, is to maintain the mechanical properties. This is because carbon black in particular can have a negative impact on these properties. Due to the high specific surface area of the carbon black particles, they adhere to each other and form agglomerates. Good dispersion is necessary to ensure that these agglomerates are as small as possible.

Foaming agent for polyamide
AF Complex® PA 990813 TM natur is an endothermic blowing agent masterbatch with a high active ingredient content, specially developed for foaming polyamides in injection moulding, profile and film extrusion applications. The carrier system optimised for polyamide eliminates the disruptive influence of foreign polymer on the polymer matrix. The special formulation enables the production of very fine-cell foam structures and components with high surface qualities. The product can be used to save weight and material (density reduction of up to 40 %) and to reduce warpage and sink marks.
